Turtle Soup Anyone? Fine Selection to be had!

No, No, Sorry, the title is just a play on words. No turtles were killed for dinner.  My Aunt Mary and I decided this last week to take a ride on the Peninsula.  Along our travels, we came along a HUGE amount of turtles sunbathing on a log in the lagoons. I swear, I am not trying to show any turtle more than once. There were that many there. I think they are getting last days in before weather turns and they hibernate for the winter.  First shot, is a widescreen to show the logs in question. After that, I tried to show as many as I could without showing the same ones more than once. There were quite a few different breeds.

And here, we have aunt Mary with some of her geese in background, and last two photos were of an aquatic bird of which I believe is of the Heron family.

Niagara Falls Adventure USA Side of the Falls

Hmm, if a photo is worth a thousand words, this will probably be worth about a million.  For the first time since I was a child, I went to visit the Falls on the US side. I admit, I did not know my way around there at all as I do on the Canadian side. Luckily, with very little miscues, we arrived at Goat Island. Am glad that we did a little planning on going there.  There are passes available if you are going to check out all the sites there. If you purchase the pass, you gain entry to Cave Of The Winds, Trolley service, Maid of the Mist ride, and tower over view, as well as a movie of the area, visitor center, and Aquarium.  There is also a lot of walking available to see the Falls from on top.  So, with out further ado, I will let the photos do the talking.

First off, we went to the Cave of the Winds. This is an elevator ride down a bit over 100 feet or 30 meters. Once there, a tunnel was excavated by hand to allow you access to the base of the Bridal Veil Falls. There is paved paths that take you to the base of the Falls. Also, there are stairways up to allow you to get up close and personal with the Falls. As part of your admission ticket price, the tell you to remove your shoes, and they give you an inexpensive pair of sandals.

Now, I will add a few video links as well to get to experience some of what we did.

Next, we shuttled over to the Tower of which is also the jumping off point for the Maid of the Mist boat ride. A few photos from atop the tower, and them some form the boat. You will notice that we all are wearing bright blue raincoats. Again, are the very thin plastic ones, but they do serve their purpose.  You may also note that there will be some photos from the Canadian boat ride, and all passengers wearing Red as their color. Also, their boats are much different!

Lastly, I am adding a video of part of our ride on the Maid Of The Mist. Pardon the lens cleaning while filming, but, had to be done. First we travel in front of the Bridal Veil Falls, and we continue onto the Horseshoe Falls or otherwise known as Rainbow Falls.  Hope you enjoyed touring with us.
